In the last few years there have been a rash of stories about how people now spend more on dining out than they do on groceries. And I’m like, “This is new?”
Our restaurant culture has been on the rise for decades. It’s changed not just what we eat but how we eat. Food is as much recreation as it is sustenance. It’s our social time. It’s a hobby. And like all hobbies, you can choose to be good at it or you can just suck.
Everybody eats. At I Ate Oklahoma, we eat well.
I’ve been reviewing restaurants and writing about Oklahoma’s food culture for nearly a decade (and boy are my arms fat). Here you’ll find restaurant reviews, food features, medical marijuana edible reviews, info on upcoming food events and pretty much whatever I think is funny or interesting.
I’m not interested in tearing down a restaurant I don’t like — bad restaurants can put themselves out of business without my help. Instead, this site will focus on what’s best in our state, from greasy spoons and fast food to fancy fine dining and avant garde cuisine.
Read. Comment. Argue (civilly, please). Come with an open mind and leave with a full stomach. Let’s eat this state together.
Still hungry,
Greg Elwell
